Motivating Us Through His Word
Lack of motivation happens to everyone. Art is my ambition and as with any artist, we can experience what we all know as writer’s block or in my case, artistic block. Writer’s block or artistic block can cause us to become discouraged and unmotivated. It is harder to be a creative person when you see how the same thing has been done a dozen times before. People can sit at their desks or workspaces for hours at a time trying to think of how to make something work.
So, what do we do when we experience a lack of inspiration and motivation?
Some may say to do the things you enjoy, and that may help but what is the true solution? Simple, the book that started it all, and no, it’s not the Epic of Gilgamesh. The true solution is the Bible. We need God’s Word. The Bible even tells us why it’s good for motivation.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2nd Timothy 3:16–17)
Reading the Bible helps clear my head when I am trying to work on something and have no clue what to do. When I draw, I think of the amazing people and miracles of the Bible. It fills me with ideas and gives me the ambition to draw something great!
Imagine you are trying to write a paper for a class. Maybe you need to tell a story about redemption or great strength, betrayal and forgiveness, war, peace, or love. It’s all in there and you can look for it!
I have been focusing on the arts but what about other things? For example, maybe you’re a scientist working toward a breakthrough in your research and experiments, but you’ve lost the inspiration and motivation. The Bible speaks of great miracles and the amazing things that can be done when we put our faith in God and read his Word.
All in all, if you don’t know what to do or are are not inspired or motivated to do something, seek God’s Word because it can help you greatly!
